The Farm
Home Farm is a family run 150 acre mixed working farm, with sheep,
cattle, pigs and poultry. The farm has been in the Meadows family
since 1953 when it was bought from Overbury Estate. It is situated
in the picturesque village of Bredons Norton at the foot of Bredon
Hill. Sheep are the main enterprise on the farm. The ewes lamb in
the Spring and all the lambs are traditionally reared on grass and
naturally grown cereals. We belong to the Farm Assured Beef and Lamb
Scheme which has very strict rules on welfare. We keep Aberdeen Angus
and Hereford cattle on the farm which are traditionally matured on
grass for flavour and taste. We rear hardy outdoor pigs of all colours!
The fact that they are free to root around outside certainly adds
to the flavour of the meat.
The Shop
In April 2003 we opened the Farm Shop selling our own lamb, beef and
pork (and turkeys at Christmas time) real local food with traceability
and flavour. We now also stock our own home-cured hams, bacon and
make our own sausages and beef-burgers. We cut up especially for the
days we are open, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, so everything
is FRESH!! When people wish to stock up their freezer, orders can
be taken for whole or half Lamb boxes. Boxes of beef and half pigs
can also be ordered. Meadows Farm Shop also supply local cheese, vegetables,
fruit juices, jams, chutneys, bread, flowers and cakes. Customers
are welcome to come and look around when they visit the farm shop.
